Paint.NET

Looking for a free alternative to Photoshop? Check out Paint.NET. It simply rocks! The free, open-source Paint.NET "started development at Washington State University as an undergraduate senior design project mentored by Microsoft." The program allows for simple multi-layer and advanced image editing and is very quick and responsive (even optimized for multicore/multiprocessor systems and 64-bit processors). The program is written for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Server 2003, with no plans to support MacOS, Linux, or any other platform. Though there are some features missing, Paint.NET is still a very useful image editing program that could replace Photoshop for a lot of people.
