Old-School Computers at Hill AFB

This summer, we visited the Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base, UT. Here are some pics of some old-school computers in the museum. As I looked at these old, dusty, gigantic machines, I wondered what it must have been like years ago when people used them in tense, top-secret missions.

I know you think those old computers are all old and kitchy, but we're actually still using ones just like them. For instance, we use 8" floppy disks and computers made back in the 80s to control our nuclear response force:

Wow! I guess if they still work and are relatively cost effective, why change? At least they don't get BSOD errors! :-)
