Flash Memory Speeds Boot Time

This is sort of old news but, now we're getting somewhere! You'd think that by now, the computer industry would have come up with a more efficient massive storage solution than the old spinning hard drive in your computer. Intel is working on a flash memory "add-in" that from which a computer will load the operating system and programs, speeding things up significantly. Expect to see more drives in future with flash memory (as opposed to a spinning platter). W00t! (Source: CNET News.com)

  1. Very interesting. My question is why did it take so long for someone to stumble upon this idea. Flash disks were fairly affordable for a while now. Props to the people in Taipei.

  2. Apparently the new Apple computers with Intel chips will support this technology known as "Robson". See http://macenstein.com/default/archives/62
