Autonomous, Gear-Carrying Robot Kind of Creepy

DARPA is announcing a call for a "legged vehicle capable of maneuvering robustly and nimbly" with 400 lbs. and operate quietly and carry enough fuel for 24-hours. The BigDog, from Boston Dynamics seems to be the closest thing we have to such a device so far, which is pretty entertaining/freaky:
